The Insurance Services Office (ISO) evaluates local fire departments and formulates protection classifications which are used by many
insurance companies for property insurance calculations. The classification scale runs from Class 1, the highest, to Class 10.

The ratings apply as follows:
Class
7 - Applies to properties in the District within five road miles of a District fire station and within 1,000 feet of a Missouri
American, Chilhowee or Leeton water system hydrant and with a needed fire flow of 3,500 gallons per minute or less.
Class 9 –
Applies to properties in the District within five road miles of a District fire station, but beyond 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant.
Class
10 – Applies to properties in the District more then five miles from a District fire station.
